Ty Katsarelis

Ty is a jazz guitarist having graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a bachelor’s degree in Music Theory and Composition. Ty has played guitar in many ensembles and has arranged works by Stravinsky, Ives, Chopin, and Philip Glass for solo guitar, guitar duo, and jazz ensembles.

Also active in the field of music theory, Ty is currently developing adaptations to the analysis of contour with Roger Graybill. Ty’s theoretical interests include form proportions, mathematical structures, and contour analysis. Ty is a composer whose work explores narrative identity, mathematical structures, and inward reflections on reality.

Ty’s work has been performed across the United States and he has most recently composed music for Guitar Duo Alexandra Christodimou & Yannis Petridis, ALEA III, and UL Lafayette Chamber Singers.

Ty is currently completing his Master’s Degree at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA and studies composition with Stratis Minakakis
