Alexandra CHRISTODIMOU and Yannis PETRIDIS
We can immediately tell that we have here an astounding duo : from Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (happy idea of transcription, defended in an absolutely convincing way), the luminous and perfect sound knows how to join delicacy of expression and precision of character, the interpreteurs not missing a single moment with their constant work on the timbre, the dynamics, the energy of phrases and their incessant articulation. One can appreciate their remarkable homogenity on every level that we also find in the rest of the programme including the famous Tonadilla by Rodrigo, Tango Suite by Piazzolla and a composition of the Greek Composer Giorginakis Greek Memories. The program ends with the Italian Concerto by Bach a bursting with notes and compact work not easily transferred to the guitar one would think.. Such a transcription could cause complications. However, any negative evaluation would have nothing to do with the specific performance since we have to admit that regarding the duo form, we have here a reference record.
